Joyee Nails wants everyone to be able to browse and buy our press-on nails, including people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control or a keyboard instead of a mouse.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Accessibility is ongoing work, and we review the site whenever we add new features.
What we have done
- Text and buttons meet WCAG contrast ratios, including our brand color.
- Our store pages can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline on links and controls.
- The cart, size options and pop-up panels are labeled for screen readers, keep keyboard focus in the right place and announce changes such as quantity and discounts.
- Images have text descriptions, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Anything that moves on its own, such as scrolling banners, rotating reviews and background videos, has a pause button. You can also stop all animations on the site at once with "Pause animations" at the bottom of every page, and your choice is remembered. If your device is set to reduce motion, animations start paused.
- Pages work at 200% zoom and on small screens without sideways scrolling.
- Labels for screen readers are translated on our German, Spanish and French pages.
Known limitations
- Some features come from third-party providers, including live chat, product reviews, rewards and some product option menus. We work with these providers on accessibility, but we do not control their code.
- The currency selector at the top of the page cannot yet be fully operated with a keyboard. You can change your country and currency with the keyboard-accessible selector at the bottom of every page instead.
- Checkout is provided by Shopify.
- Short preview videos on product cards and in our Instagram row play automatically. You can stop them with "Pause animations" at the bottom of the page.
How we test
We check the site with automated accessibility testing tools and with manual keyboard testing on desktop and mobile. We are adding testing with screen readers.
